Mega Joker is a classic NetEnt slot from 1 October 2008 with three reels, five fixed lines, a Supermeter mode, mystery wins and a progressive jackpot. NetEnt lists an RTP of up to 99%, a 17% hit frequency and a top payout of 200 times the bet, and you can play it free in the official demo below.
Mega Joker – NetEnt's classic Supermeter slot
The Mega Joker slot by NetEnt is a classic three-reel game and the closest relative of Jackpot 6000. NetEnt released the slot Mega Joker on 1 October 2008, about nine months after Jackpot 6000, and describes it as "a 3-reel, 5-line (fixed) slot game, featuring basic mode, Supermeter mode, mystery wins, and progressive Jackpot".
Its listed RTP of up to 99% is the highest of any NetEnt game on this site. The layout also sets it apart: the basic game and the Supermeter use separate reels, and basic-mode wins feed the Supermeter. Play the Mega Joker slot free below before you read the rest of our Mega Joker review.

How the Mega Joker slot machine works
Mega Joker has two modes. In basic mode you set a stake and spin three reels with five fixed lines. NetEnt lists bets from €1.00 to €10.00, a higher start than Jackpot 6000's €0.10; casinos can set their own limits in your currency.
When you win in basic mode, NetEnt says you are transferred to Supermeter mode automatically: the win is added to the Supermeter credit, shown in the middle of the machine, and play moves to the top reels. This is how to play Mega Joker:
- Set your stake in basic mode. The five lines are fixed.
- Spin the basic reels. Line wins pay according to the in-game paytable.
- A win starts the Supermeter. It moves to the Supermeter credit.
- Choose a Supermeter bet of 20, 40, 100 or 200 coins and spin the top reels.
- Collect when you want. Move the credits back to basic mode at any stage.
- Stop at your limit. Set a budget and time limit before the first spin.
Supermeter mode: the official facts
According to NetEnt, Supermeter mode is played on the top reels at a pre-selected coin value. Wins there are paid from the highlighted paytable, which depends on your current bet, and the maximum win in Supermeter mode is 2,000 coins.
In practice, the Supermeter bet decides how fast the credit can grow or shrink: a 200-coin spin puts ten times as much at risk as a 20-coin spin. What a coin is worth depends on the version you play, so check the coin value before you raise the bet, and read the highlighted paytable at each level in the demo.
Mystery wins
Mystery wins are prizes linked to the Joker. NetEnt says Mega Joker awards them at various bets, and the amount depends on where the Jokers land and on your current bet. Its one example: at a bet of 100, a Joker on the middle reel gives a mystery win of between 100 and 2,000 coins. NetEnt does not publish the other ranges, so we do not print any; the game's rules screen lists them.
The Mega Joker progressive jackpot
The progressive jackpot is awarded on a randomly selected game round, and its current amount is shown in the jackpot display box. NetEnt says the value increases each time the basic game is played, and when someone wins it, other active players see a pop-up message. NetEnt publishes no starting value or typical size, so the display in the version you play is the only reliable figure.
Mega Joker RTP, hit frequency and max win
NetEnt lists the Mega Joker RTP as 99%. We write "up to 99%" because it is the top figure: a casino can run a version that returns less, and RTP is a long-run average, not a forecast for one session. If the casino or the game's help screen shows an RTP, that number applies to you.
The hit frequency is 17%, so roughly one spin in six wins on average. The chance of ten spins in a row without a win is then about 16%, against about 35% at Jackpot 6000's 10%. The maximum payout is 200 times the bet: €200 at €1.00 and €2,000 at €10.00, the top of NetEnt's range. NetEnt's game data also lists a volatility value of 9.9, the same as Jackpot 6000, on a scale it does not explain; see Jackpot 6000 RTP and payouts.
Mega Joker vs Jackpot 6000
Mega Joker and Jackpot 6000 both have a Supermeter mode, but they handle it differently. All figures come from NetEnt's official game pages.
| Mega Joker | Jackpot 6000 | |
|---|---|---|
| Release date | 1 Oct 2008 | 24 Dec 2007 |
| RTP | Up to 99% | Up to 98.9% |
| Hit frequency | 17% | 10% |
| Max payout | 200 × bet | 600 × bet |
| Grid and lines | 3 × 3, 5 fixed lines | 3 × 3, 5 fixed lines |

Mega Joker wins more often and has a slightly higher top RTP, but starts at a higher stake and caps the top payout at 200× bet. Jackpot 6000 suits lower stakes, pays up to 600× and lets you choose whether to enter the Supermeter. Try the Jackpot 6000 free demo to compare.
